Heamogoblin: are you a blood sucking goblin, should I be scared.

I don’t think I’m better, it’s really hard to say you are better than someone else when we do such different things!

I’m definitely not what anyone would consider to be a typical scientist, but I don’t think any of us are what people imagine scientists to be!

I have green/purple/blue in my hair and 25 piercings. I love mountain biking and going to see live bands (rock and metal)

So I might not be the best but I’m certainly not average!

I have to agree with Heather! I think we all have our strengths and weaknesses… not to mention we’re in different areas of work and stages of our careers so not necessarily fair to compare one to another to say who’s “better”.

I think one of the things I love about working in the scientific community is the diversity of people (and especially opinions) that you meet on a daily basis.

I too have my weird and wonderful oddities… I’m half Irish half Chinese… I sing and dance around the lab while working (my colleagues can definitely vouch for that), play a couple of Irish instruments… I’m a junkie for films and theatre (always finding excuses to visit London’s West End)… always spouting random facts out of thin air… and just love hanging around with friends… I’m fair from the quintessential “old grey balding professor with a labcoat, glasses on the tip of his nose peering over other people’s shoulders in the lab”.
