      Hi Carlos,

      So the nephrons of the kidneys are the tiny functional units that do all the work… there is anywhere between 800, 000 – 1,200,000 per kidney in a young healthy adult.

      The nephron itself is made up of a long twisted bundle of tubes, and these tubes are themselves made up of many different cell types that do various jobs.
