      I haven’t heard of any kidneys choosing to do skydives on their own, that would be pretty dangerous without any arms to pull the rip cord!

      Normally hormones regulate functions for good reasons – like anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) which makes your kidneys retain water so you don’t get too dehydrated. It’s when these normal processes go wrong that you get dangerous effects on the body.

      One of the most dangerous is high blood pressure or hypertension, it tends to have lots of different causes but abnormal kidney function can be a trigger or make it a lot worse.

      Hypertension is really dangerous for your whole body, it damages lots of different organs including the heart, kidneys and brain.
